The Bravery Flywheel: How One Bold Move Builds Unstoppable Momentum
By Sam Penny – Coach for the Brave
The Bravery Flywheel
Have you ever noticed how some people seem to stay bold?
They launch often.
They make moves quickly.
They bounce back faster.
It’s not luck. It’s not hype.
It’s something I call:
The Bravery Flywheel.
It’s a 4-phase loop that, once spinning, creates the kind of unstoppable momentum most people only dream about.
Let’s break it down.
The 4 Phases of the Bravery Flywheel
1. Brave Action
It starts here.
This is the decision to act before you're fully ready.
It might be small:
- Making the ask
- Saying no
- Starting the thing
- Speaking the truth
But it’s deliberate. And it stirs something.
2. Dopamine + Integrity
When you follow through, you feel it instantly:
- A dopamine hit
- A surge of alignment
- A feeling of, “Yes. That’s who I am.”
This builds identity.
You’re not just acting brave — you’re becoming brave.
3. Clarity + Confidence
Action clarifies.
When you move, things make sense.
You’re no longer overthinking — you’re in it.
You trust yourself a bit more.
You start to believe you can handle what’s ahead.
4. Increased Capacity for Bravery
You stretch your discomfort tolerance.
What used to scare you now feels normal.
You’re more open to risk.
You’re faster to act.
And that leads you right back to…
Another Brave Action
…which restarts the flywheel
…but this time with more speed and less friction.
Why It Matters
You don’t need to be motivated all the time.
You just need to keep the flywheel turning.
One bold move → Identity shift
→ Confidence boost
→ More clarity
→ Bigger actions
This is how bravery compounds.
Not through force, but through frictionless repetition.
Try This Today
Ask yourself:
What’s one brave action I can take to spin the flywheel?
Not the biggest thing.
Just the next thing.
Make the move.
Feel the shift.
Spin the wheel.
